Learning is a lifelong endeavor for some people. They always want to read up on new ideas and form new opinions based off what they're reading or watching at the moment. Sometimes, people think they're so educated on a topic that they know better than a person in that profession. From lawyers to healthcare professionals to software engineers, these professionals have all met ordinary folks who believe they're much more educated on the subject than the person who studied it for years and does that job every day. Who needs expertise when, instead, you have your own strong opinion that can't be changed by facts and evidence?

U/Phoenix-fyre asked "Professionals in any field of work, what is the most ridiculous thing that anyone outside of your profession has claimed to know more about than you?" More than 20,000 people answered. There were people from numerous careers, and it seems like a lot of them have to answer the same sorts of questions and misunderstandings all the time. At least some people actually listened to the pros, while others doubled down on their misinformed hot takes.
