Welcome, pilots. Neon Genesis Evangelion has long been considered one of the greatest anime of all time. Because of this, even new anime fans are well aware that it is much more than the average mecha anime. Even before I went on the psychological trip with Shinji, Rei, and Asuka, I was bombarded daily with Evangelion memes referring to Fanta, GIFs of the characters clapping, and of course, plenty of parodies of people posing like a defeated Shinji sitting on a chair.
