The Human Torch and The Thing Make Their Marvel Rivals Debut—And They Look… Fantastic

They're finally here! Marvel Rivals has officially brought in The Human Torch and The Thing, completing the Fantastic Four lineup after we got Mr. Fantastic and The Invisible Woman at the start of the season. Now, Marvel's First Family is reunited, and judging by the gameplay videos, they are ready to tear it up.

With these two new arrivals, the roster has now expanded to 37 heroes, and both characters bring some serious firepower (literally, in Johnny's case). As expected, The Thing is a full-on brawler (Vanguard, if we're being technical), built to take hits and not budge an inch. He's completely immune to knockback effects, meaning no amount of shoving, pulling, or physics-bending shenanigans will move this rock-solid dude. If there was ever a hero made for holding the line, it's Ben Grimm.

Then we have The Human Torch, a high-flying Duelist who's all about mobility and long-range fire attacks. His ultimate ability pairs beautifully with Storm's to create an absolutely devastating fire tornado that will make enemies regret queuing up for the match in the first place. Seriously, it looks ridiculous.

Both characters arrive on February 21, 2025, as part of the mid-season update, which also includes a whole batch of buffs and nerfs (RIP to Cloak & Dagger mains like myself—we had a good run). The update will also bring a brand-new map: Central Park, which looks like an exciting new battleground for Rivals' growing hero roster.
